SAN FRANCISCO-- Anti-trans activist Riley Gaines is returning to campus in partnership with conservative organization Turning Point USA. During her 2023 visit to SFSU, Gaines found herself locked inside a classroom for hours, as student protestors stood outside the door. This year, students are planning a different approach in opposition of her presence.
The Queer and Trans Resource Center is hosting a Trans Voices panel in the Cesar Chavez Student Center at 6 pm, while the event with Gaines is scheduled for 6:30 pm at the Seven Hills Conference center. A group called Mutual Support will also be hosting a soccer game immediately outside of the conference center in support of trans rights.
During her previous visit to campus, Gaines claimed that she had been assaulted. SFSU Police Department stated the charges were unfounded.
